Karate

To get back into shape I started taking karate.  I train at the Washington Karate Association. The WKA practices Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu under the direction of Shihan Julius Thiry.  The first dojo was established in 1967 and currently consists of five dojos in Seattle (Ballard), Everett, Bellevue, Burien, and Lakewood.

I train at the Ballard Dojo under Sensei Matt Day.

My belt promotions:
White Belt (Began training) November 20th, 1999
Orange Belt April 20th, 2000
Blue Belt November 9th, 2000
Red Belt September 25th, 2001
Puple Belt June 19th, 2003
Green Belt October 27th, 2004

As you can see I still have a long ways to go before I reach any respectable level.

This is not my first experience with Karate.  When I was in high school, oh so long ago, I trained some.  My grandmother insisted on filming me "doing my karate". So she captured some on 8 millimeter film and later had it transferred tovideo tape in the most primitive manner possible.  Here it is, in low resolution real media format.

I have competed in a couple tournaments and done okish...medals.jpg (90905 bytes)
