Don Glover, the younger

ConsultingI am a programmer/software engineer/computer geek, whatever term is currently in vogue for a person who slings code for a living. Currently I am a programming writer at Microsoft. If you are interested, here is my programmer/writer reference page.

I have been tinkering with computers now for over two decades, having learned my original skills on an IBM 360/65 in a Boy Scout explorer troop, hosted by the Washington State Department Of Highways in Olympia Washington.

Born in Yakima Washington, I am a native Washingtonian, even if my mother is a transplant.  We moved about a bit and ended up in Olympia WA when I was about four and half.   During this time we spent brief stints in Bellingham and Ellensburg. I graduated from Winlock Miller High School (Better Known as Olympia high school) and fled to Seattle as soon as possible, taking up residence in a house full of Science Fiction fans.  Before getting settled in the computer industry, I bounced in and out the University of Washington as well as in and out of Jobs. I have been: a Player piano and pump organ repairman, a inventory taker, an assistant manager of a Kmart shoe department and a Medical/Dental claims processor.

ContinentsWhen I worked for Eaglesoft the job took me quite a few places in the US (mostly Phoenix and San Jose though :) and to Israel twice. My Israel trip was the first time I had ever traveled internationally (sorry I don't count Canada).

My hobbies include the afore mentioned science fiction and Karate. I help run a couple science fiction conventions such as Norwescon, Westercon 56 , and others on occasion. For the national Karate Federation I run the computers at the tournaments and help maintaing the website.

I have been interested in history for many years. In fact I am a history major at the University of Washington, I have been attending classe off and on for over 30 years.

Genealogy

After having lost both the online version and my backups of my family tree findings, I have begun to reenter some of the data. I am using Family Origins ver. 8.0 by Parsons Technology. New with this version is the ability to generate web pages from the data. As I get the data entered (and updated) each family group I will add it to the list here. For now we start with Quaid line.

I have now added the Boyles line as well as adding new data to the Quaid information.
